Manchester City academy prospect Daniel Ogwuru admits he was inspired by former teammate Rico Lewis after joining Championship side Norwich.
Ogwuru moved to the Canaries in a permanent deal late on Friday night. The 18-year-old signed a long-term contract with the second-tier side and will initially join up with their academy sides.
He joined City at the age of 14, progressing through the age groups and being part of the 2021/2022 under-18 Premier League winning side. The striker netted seven goals in 16 appearances last season for the under-18s and under-21s.
Rising through the ranks at the same time was Lewis, whose incredible trajectory has seen him break into the first-team and feature regularly under Pep Guardiola. And it is that success for a friend that motivates Ogwuru to kick on.

"I was playing with him a year ago and in six months he's just shot up into the first team," the former Blues youngster said upon signing for Norwich. "It shows that if you are patient and you wait and work hard, your time will come.
"That's got to be me now. I think I'll be able to bring that here and implement that into my games with the Under-21s."
While the initial plan is to join the youth set up with Norwich, Ogwuru will hope to emulate Lewis' first-team break and get a taste of senior football. And the teenager hopes the footballing education received at City's elite-level academy will stand him in good stead.
"It feels great to sign for the club," he added. "When the project was presented to me, I felt like it was a great opportunity.
