Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has lifted the lid on his frustration at missing out on a number of top targets during his time as manager of Manchester United.
The Norwegian manager was backed by a number of new players during his time at the club, but was not always able to bring in the elite-level targets he wanted. There were situations when Solskjaer wasn't given the power to take risks on then unproven youngsters like Erling Haaland or Moises Caicedo, and others when the club simply wouldn't finance huge moves for the likes of Harry Kane.
It could have turned out very differently had United managed to sign all of the elite players Solskjaer had shown an interest in, though there is also no guarantee they would have all thrived as well as they have done had they moved to Old Trafford instead. When asked in an interview with The Athletic if the United job was impossible, Solskjaer explained the struggle of signing the best youngsters in world football and listed the players he'd have loved to have signed himself.
