"That all got pushed aside and dropped and they were in the job and took over the club. Since then, I think the recruitment has been good.
"I think if they're going to go down the same model as Manchester City, and they've got the funds to go and get the players and a director of football and a really clear strategy of what they want to do, I think there's a good argument to say that Newcastle will get it right before Manchester United.
"Because, Manchester United have had nine years and they're still nowhere near, whereas Newcastle, if they get it right, they could easily win the title before Manchester United."
