Manchester City have started work on a deal for Jeremy Doku but will have to pay at least £45million for the Rennes star, according to reports.
City look set to enter the market for a new winger after Riyad Mahrez's surprise exit last month. The Algerian joined Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli in a deal worth £30million, leaving a major gap on the right side.
Doku is among a number of potential targets identified by City, and the 21-year-old looks set to be the subject of a bid from the treble winners. ESPN reports that the Blues are working on a deal and that an offer is being readied.
Rennes value their Belgian star at £45m and the report adds that City's valuation is short of that fee. Doku started his side's first game of the new campaign on Sunday, scoring in a 5-1 win over Metz. He registered six goals and two assists in 29 Ligue 1 appearances last season.
