Former defender Paul Parker has said that Manchester United's players let Rasmus Hojlund down after he scored twice in Tuesday night's 3-2 Champions League defeat by Galatasaray at Old Trafford.
Hojlund, who joined the Reds from Italian side Atalanta in August, notched his first Old Trafford goals to put United both 1-0 and 2-1 ahead against the Turkish outfit. However, Erik ten Hag's troops capitulated after the Dane's second of the game, conceding either side of Casemiro's 77th minute red card.
United had more than enough opportunities to put the contest to bed prior to Galatasaray's recovery, but only Hojlund displayed composure in front of goal when it mattered. He was excellent all evening, producing his best performance for the club so far.

However, he was unable to fully enjoy his first United brace as a result of yet more calamitous defending at the other end of the field. And for former Reds ace Parker, who played for the club between1991 and 1996, he believes Hojlund would have been within his rights to take a leaf out of Cristiano Ronaldo's book and go on the attack at his teammates, though he doubts that is his style.
"They let him down and they didn't do their job," Parker told SpilXperten. "They never allowed him to enjoy scoring his goals. He should be furious.
"But what I really like about him is that he is not pointing people out. Ronaldo would have pointed fingers saying that they let him down.
"I don't think thats in Hojlund's nature, to be honest, and he has been doing things the right way from the start of his time at Man United."
