Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver reunited with her on-screen son Ryan Thomas on Loose Women this morning - however the Eileen actress admitted that Ryan wasn't the easiest to work with in the mornings. Ryan joined the Loose Women hosts to chat about his time on Dancing on Ice, with Sue appearing as guest panellist. When chatting about the early mornings required when training for Dancing on Ice, Sue, 60, joked that Ryan was like "Jekyll and Hyde" on set of Coronation Street as he wasn't a fan of early starts.
Speaking on Loose Women, Sue said she was "quite amazed" when she heard Ryan had signed up to the ITV competition. "I know from other members of Corrie who've done [Dancing on Ice] that you have to rehearse and rehearsals often happen early in the morning," she said. "And there's something I know about Ryan.
"First thing in the morning, he is vile. Honestly, you would not believe. It is like Jekyll and Hyde." Laughing at his former co-star's tongue-in-cheek comments, Ryan said, "Don't speak to me first thing in the morning!' When panellist Katie Piper asked Ryan whether he was a "coffee before conversation kind of guy", the former Corrie star said: "Oh 100 percent." Ryan played Jason Grimshaw - Eileen Grimshaw's son - from 2000 until 2016, when he decided to leave the soap to pursue other ventures.
On Corrie, Ryan's departure played out with Jason moving to Thailand. Sue first appeared on Coronation Street in a small role in 1994 before joining the cast on a full time basis as Eileen in 2000. She's been on the cobbles ever since, with Eileen currently dating George Shuttleworth and living with son Todd and lodgers Sean and Mary.
