Waterloo Road actor Adam Thomas has said he is "struggling" and "in pain" after being diagnosed with the chronic illness Rheumatoid Arthritis. The 35 year old dad of two – who's also been in Emmerdale and is set to take part in this year's Strictly Come Dancing in just a couple of weeks' time – shared a shirtless snap of himself on Instagram, as he spoke out about his condition on Sunday, 3 September.
"A very rare sight … me with my top off!" he captioned the picture, adding: "But I need to get comfortable feeling uncomfortable! Am not in the best shape of my life but,I could be worse." Adam, who received the devastating diagnosis of the illness the day before his birthday last month, continued: "This year has been tough there’s no doubt about that… but I’ve just got to stay focused now! I’m still struggling and the pain is still there but I’m putting on a brave face I’ve got to stay strong!! "Swimming helps me so much with my arthritis, i mean as much as it kills me getting my top off and going for a swim, I know it’s helping me and I know it’s also helping me deal with the issues I’ve got with me and my body. Which is a good thing! "Got a feeling am going to get a lot more out of the next few months than I bargained for l!!" Adam had previously shared the news on his Instagram, as he posted a pic of himself with his wife, Caroline, and their two children, son Teddy and daughter, Elsie-Rose.
Speaking then about how the pain affected him, he said: "It started with my knees and then traveled to my wrists, fingers and now ankles and toes. I never knew what was happening and finally after several blood tests and back and forth to doctors and hospitals, I’ve been diagnosed with rheumatoid Arthritis!" Adam previously defended
