Adam Thomas has shared the true extent of his struggles before receiving a 'painful' health diagnosis which he recently shared with fans. The former Emmerdale star is among the 15 celebrities who have signed up to Strictly Come Dancing which starts on Saturday (September 16).
But the news of his new gig came before he shared a health diagnosis with his loyal following. Adam, 35, shared how he had been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, a long-term condition that causes pain, swelling and stiffness in the joints. He shared last month (August) how his symptoms started with his knees before moving to his wrists, fingers and now ankles and toes.
He said his diagnosis came after several blood tests and visits to doctors and hospitals. The Waterloo Road actor has since been sharing how he's trying to manage the pain with regular swim sessions and getting back to his routine in the gym.

Ahead of the show's launch, the Waterloo Road actor opened up about his diagnosis and the struggles that have come with it, as he told press, via OK! Magazine: "So far, so good. I'm on [lots] of medication, so I probably won't remember this chat! It's been tough, but I'm on the road to recovery.
"A couple of weeks ago I couldn't really walk or really do much, so to get to this point where I'm at now, I'm just so happy." He continued: "I just want to get on the dancefloor, start dancing, moving. I'm just happy to be here and be able to do it. I don't care about how far I get, I'm just happy to be here."
