Strictly's Adam Thomas admits he was 'struggling to walk' amid chronic illness diagnosis

Former Adam Thomas star following his Rheumatoid Arthritis diagnosis has shared that he was left struggling to walk, following his Rheumatoid Arthritis diagnosis. It comes just weeks before Adam, 35, is set to take to the Strictly Come Dancing dancefloor, with the series launch show airing on Saturday (September 16).
Ahead of the show's launch, the Waterloo Road actor opened up about his diagnosis and the struggles that have come with it, as he told press: "So far, so good. I'm on [lots] of medication, so I probably won't remember this chat! It's been tough, but I'm on the road to recovery.
"A couple of weeks ago I couldn't really walk or really do much, so to get to this point where I'm at now, I'm just so happy." He continued: "I just want to get on the dancefloor, start dancing, moving. I'm just happy to be here and be able to do it.
I don't care about how far I get, I'm just happy to be here." Adam received the devastating diagnosis of the illness just days before his birthday last month, sharing the diagnosis with fans he shared a snap to Instagram of himself with his wife, Caroline, and their two children, son Teddy and daughter, Elsie-Rose. Captioning the photo, he wrote: "Well it’s my birthday tomorrow and I turn 35!! How did that happen, does this mean I should stop acting like a kid now haha.
As much as I act like a kid, my body is telling another story… "I’ve been in a lot of pain since January, it started with my knees and then traveled to my wrists, fingers and now ankles and toes.
