Susanna Reid was left with a look of uncertainty and slight concern when she warned Richard Madeley 'we can't say that'. The former This Morning presenter was back fronting the ITV news programme on Monday (July 17) in place of Susanna's co-host last week Ed Balls.
Among the news headlines and the chat on the first show of the week, Susanna and Richard headed up a debate on whether having a certain accent could hold someone back. The conversation came after a leading private school accused Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer of dodging the issue of accents after pushing for the use of correct grammar.
Susanna and Richard were joined by guests Joanna Jarjue and Sean McDonald who shared their experiences on how people often perceive them due to their strong Yorkshire and Scottish accents.

But during the chat, Richard claimed Sean was 'articulate' and near the end of the discussion, Ricard turned to Scottish native Sean and seemingly appeared to have mumbled: "You are very British though, aren't you?"
Sean replied: "I can assure you, Richard." but a taken aback Susanna appeared quite sheepish as she said: "I'm not sure we can say that, can we?" before adding: "I don't think that could have worked the other way, would it?" But Sean didn't seem too concerned as he told both hosts not to worry about the comment.
