She said: "Sorry, I was slightly distracted by the news about Jay Slater and the fact that the police there in Tenerife have decided to stop the actual search...I just feel...how has that young man disappeared into thin air?" She continued, expressing her empathy for the family's situation: "And what did the family do now? because, you know, we all imagine, everyone imagines what you'd...I just would not be able to leave. "How could you possibly? You couldn't leave Tenerife, could you? Knowing that your son is somewhere there?" Ed added his thoughts on the matter: "We have seen this before, haven't we in the last few months.
"As time passes, the internet fills with speculation, stories, and conspiracies, and for the family, they'll know there is a simple explanation, but they will also be reading all of this complexity and they just don't know," reports the Mirror. The hosts also spoke with Richard Gaisford, who joined them via video link from Tenerife.
He confirmed that while the Spanish police had stopped actively searching, the case was not closed. He also revealed that Jay's family had raised over £40,000 through crowdfunding and were deciding how best to use it in their continued search for their son.
