Ricky Hatton has become the first star to leave ITV's Dancing On Ice after losing out in the skate-off to comedian, Lou Sanders. Former professional boxer Ricky, 45, confessed that he was "gutted" to leave the show.
He said: "I'm gutted to be going home. I've tried to be a winner all my life." He laughed and added: "It's been a while since I've seen the second round!" Holly and professional skating partner Robbin Johnstone also laughed at his cheeky comment.
Head judge Christopher Dean said there was "far more content" in his final performance but it "is about the skating" and proceeded to save Lou. Fellow judges Jayne Torvill, Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse also agreed with this decision.
Ricky was the first celebrity to be confirmed for Dancing on Ice in September 2023, as the revelation was made on This Morning. During his appearance on the show, Ricky said: ”If I can hold my nerve in the boxing ring I should be able to hold my nerve in the ice rink.
I like setting new challenges and keeping myself busy!" Speaking to the viewers at home, before Ricky was unveiled, former This Morning host Holly asked: "Are you ready to discover the identity of the first Dancing on Ice celebrity taking to the rink in the New Year?" Ben Shephard, who was presenting alongside Holly on the show, followed up: "So far we've told you they're a sportsperson, you've probably guessed that they're a boxer." Holly said: "Let's find out if you've guessed who it is," before shouting to said celebrity to "reveal yourself".
The camera then panned to a door space covered by paper, through which Ricky boxed his way into the TV studio.
The world champion boxer laughed as he shrugged off his boxing gloves and went to hug both Holly and Ben. Follow OK! on
