After over two decades on our screens together, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are back for the 20th series of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. After the spectacular first show last Saturday, 24 February, the boys return tonight for more mayhem. But sadly it's set to be the final series of the popular ITV show, as the boys look set to pursue other projects.
“We want it to be the biggest send-off, so we’re resting it for a while, so everyone we haven’t managed to get on in the last few years, we’re going to try to get on,” they told The Sun. But while the presenting duo, who first rose to fame on Byker Grove in 1989, are familiar faces on our screens, they live much quieter lives away from the spotlight with their partners. Forty eight year old Dec has been married to his wife Ali Astall, who is a talent manager, since 2015 and the pair share two children, Isla, five, and Jack, one, together.
While the pair keep their children's lives private, they have shared some details. For instance, Isla's middle name, Anne, is a tribute to Dec's mum. Meanwhile, following the death of Dec’s brother Father Dermott Donnelly in 2022, Dec and Ali said that their son Jack Anthony Alphonsus was a “welcome ray of light” and revealed that they’d given him a very sweet moniker.
“Shortly before 10am yesterday, 23.7.2022, Ali and I welcomed the arrival of our son, Jack Anthony Alphonsus, a very welcome ray of light. He is wonderful and Isla is beyond excited to be a big sister!,” Dec wrote on Instagram, announcing the news. Little Jack shares his middle name with Dec's best pal and TV partner, Ant McPartlin.
