Sharon Osbourne is back on our screens after entering the Celebrity Big Brother house this week, and she's already providing plenty of entertainment. While her famous family have been entertaining us for years, Sharon hasn't always had an easy time at home.
The 71 year old has been open about having a difficult relationship with her parents, who have both now passed away. Her dad, Don Arden, began his music management career singing in the local synagogue, from where he progressed quickly to performing on the variety circuits at 14 in wartime Britain.
However, he became a famous showbusiness agent in 1954 after realising its economic potential. His first notable act as a manager was none other than tempestuous rock ‘n’ roll pioneer Gene Vincent in 1960. Sharon shared that her childhood was filled with violence.
She often saw her dad, who was notoriously known as the "Al Capone of pop," threatening people or waving a gun around. Her father managed the band Black Sabbath, and he famously sacked Sharon's now husband, Ozzy Osbourne, from the band. Sharon, who started dating Ozzy in 1979, then began managing his career instead of the Arden group.
Sharon helped to gather a team (Randy Rhoads, Bob Daisley, and Lee Kerslake) for the making of the album Blizzard of Ozz.
This helped Ozzy kick-start a very successful solo career. But because she dated and managed Ozzy, her dad was not happy with her. In her book, Sharon tells stories of how he robbed her, tried to kill her, and once lied to Ozzy about her in an attempt to turn him off her.
After that, she was estranged from her dad for 20 years. In 2001 Sharon told The Guardian: "The best lesson I ever had was watching him f*** his business up. He taught me everything not to do.
