After a year-long wait, fans were thrilled as Geordie due Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, aka Ant and Dec, reunited once again on Saturday 22 February for their last series of Saturday Night Takeaway. There were plenty of treats in store from a prank on America's Got Talent judge Simon Cowell, to having comedian Stephen Merchant as the Guest Announcer and the unveiling of brand new Little Ant & Dec. And the show concluded with a special 'End of the Show Show' with Becky Hill and Urban Theory.
However, the live show wasn’t without its hiccups, including an incident during the Ant vs Dec challenge that left Dec in a painful pickle with his safety equipment. Dancing on Ice presenter Stephen Mulhern returned to the programme dressed as character Dr Evil from the Austin Powers film series for his part as host for the Ant vs Dec challenge. He tasked the pair with climbing two tall towers outside the television centre and pressing the buzzer on top first.
With Ant securing the win, he came down from the tower where Dec was seen struggling with his safety harness in the background. Looking on as Dec descended from the tower, Stephen said: “Oh he looks in pain.” With Dec firmly on the ground, Ant asked him: “Are you ok?” to which Dec replied: “Yeah”. Ant continued to ask: “Did you get your b***s stuck?” as Dec nodded as they all started laughing.
