Coronation Street star Tony Maudsley has addressed his future on the show as he claimed why his character can't ever be killed off. The actor joined the ITV soap as local undertaker George Shuttleworth back in 2020.
He arrived on the street when he began doing business with Preston's Petals after taking over Shuttleworth's Independent Funeral Directors after his father died. Then in January 2021, George and Gail Platt discovered that they shared great-great grandparents, Augustus and Fanny Page.
Since then Corrie fans have seen George strike up a relationship with Eileen Grimshaw and has even been working with her son, Todd, recently giving him a promotion after he quit and headed to join rival, Rest East. Also in the past three years, George has been joined on the street by his flamboyant sister Glenda.

Now, during an appearance on the annual ITV special, The Big Soap Quiz: Coronation Street v Emmerdale which aired on Thursday night (December 28), Tony opened up about his future on the show.
Tony was joined by his Corrie co-stars, Channique Sterling-Brown, who plays Dee-Dee Bailey, and team captain Jack P Shepherd, who plays David Platt. During the episode, host Stephen Mulhern asked Tony how is life for his character George in Weatherfield.
To which Tony quipped: "Well, business is booming as always in Weatherfield. The best thing about playing George is, they can't kill me off because there's no one to bury me!" As the host and audience laughed, the former Benidorm star added: "So yeah, I'm staying put, me!"
