Another Coronation Street star is said to be leaving the ITV soap, as an actress is said to have quit the show.
Lisa George is reportedly stepping away from the Cobbles 13 years playing Beth Tinker, with her apparently set to bow out next summer. It comes weeks after actress Lisa downplayed exit rumours to The Mirror.
And now it has been reported that Lisa will bow out from the soap, despite it being revealed she had a new contract recently on the show. It's thought Lisa is keen to move on for new challenges after over a decade on the hit soap.
According to reports, Lisa decided to leave her role, and her exit will air in the summer of next year while no details on the plot have been confirmed.
A source told The Sun of Beth's reported departure: “Lisa has been on Corrie for a long time and she’s had some great storylines. She loves Corrie and it’s in her bones but she feels now is the right time to move on and take on new challenges.”
The Mirror have contacted a spokesperson for Corrie for comment on the news.
Back in October, actress Lisa shared her confusion with The Mirror over rumours of an exit, as her character Beth had been off screen for a while.
After Lisa addressed what she would like to do away from Corrie in an interview, she revealed she was awaiting news of her new contract - which has since been renewed. What followed was an abundance of reports that she could be bowing out of the show, something she was quick to deny to our sister paper.
Confirming her soap future at the time, Lisa revealed she had a new contract and was going nowhere. Lisa said that she was offscreen at the time due
