Coronation Street bosses have reportedly offered soap legends Sally Dynevor and Michael Le Vell big money contracts to ensure they remain on the show. Sally, 60, has played Sally Webster in the ITV soap for 38 years, while Michael, 59, has been portraying Kevin Webster for 41 years.
The two stars - who played husband and wife in Corrie for many years - are thought to both earn around £170,000 per year for their Coronation Street roles. ITV bosses were said to be "desperate" to keep Sally and Michael on the soap, and both actors were more than happy to sign another contract, as they "love the show".
A source told The Sun: "Sally and Mike are two of Corrie's most beloved stars. Bosses were desperate to keep them, and they were happy to sign.
They both love the show." While Sally and Michael will be remaining in Weatherfield, several Corrie stars are set to exit the soap this year. Alex Bain, 22, who plays Simon Barlow will depart in the summer, alongside Lisa George, 51, who portrays Beth Tinker.
Actor Peter Ash, 38, is also among those leaving, with his character Paul Foreman set to lose his fight with motor neurone disease. Soap fans have been eager for Coronation Street to have a cast shake-up and there's no doubt bosses are looking to freshen things up after missing out on the Christmas Day TV top then for the first time in decades. Taking to social media, one Corrie fan said: "About 15 characters should be axed and you wouldn't miss them.
The stories are farcical and the acting of many is certainly questionable." Meanwhile a second agreed, saying: "Corrie is in the worst state it's ever been in.
