Coronation Street star Tony Maudsley, known for his role as George Shuttleworth on the cobbles, has teased there are some "big changes" to come for the ITV soap and says a new character will be joining the cast.

Coronation Street star Tony Maudsley was quickly complimented by fans after he made an observation when looking at a snap of himself. The picture was seemingly taken earlier this summer when he hit the town with his co-stars.
Tony, who plays George Shuttleworth in the ITV soap, joined the Corrie cast and crew for their annual summer bash which was held at at celebrity haunt The Ivy in Spinningfields back in July.
But weeks on from the celebrations, former Benidorm star Tony appears to have seen a snap of himself which he shared to Twitter and said: "Just realised the letters behind me are saying HEAVY," referring to the fact that the angle of the photo means he's covering part of the The Ivy's big gold sign.

Fans of the soap star, however, were quick to respond after impressing them with his weight loss. Tony regularly shares updates with his fans, and a previous recent post stunned fans who noticed his improved figure. In a picture alongside Gareth Pierce, who plays Todd Grimshaw in Corrie, one fan, Ali, wrote: "Looking very trim Mr M." Theresa posted: "How did you shed weight."
Michelle commented: "Looking so well." On X (formerly known as Twitter), Tara said: "George Shuttleworth and Eileen Grimshaw look great after their weight losses. Well done!" Stevie commented: "George Shuttleworth the Funeral Director hasn’t half dropped some weight, looks well on it, & so much younger." Meanwhile, Bebop tweeted: "Has George lost a load of weight"
