Coronation Street star Tony Maudsley, known for his role as George Shuttleworth on the cobbles, has teased there are some "big changes" to come for the ITV soap and says a new character will be joining the cast.
The actor shared a snap of himself on social media alongside his Todd Grimshaw co-star Gareth Pierce and the new star. He wrote: "There are big changes afoot at Shuttleworth's next week. Meet Lurch!".
The trio posed outside Shuttleworth's funeral parlour in black.
Tony grinned at the camera but Gareth didn't look as impressed at the prospect of his replacement making a debut as he seemed to be eyeing up his competition.
Next week's spoilers according to Manchester Evening News show Todd having second thoughts about leaving Shuttleworth's for rivals RestEasy.
Actor Callum Burbidge replied to the post: "I can’t wait for this to come out! It was a pleasure working with you @tonymaudsley1." Meanwhile, Gareth quipped: "'Are you trolling me, George…?' alongside a crying laughing emoji.
Corrie co-star Sally Carman-Duttine also replied: "Love this pic," alongside a string of crying laughing emojis.
Fans of the ITV soap also appear thrilled at the shake-up as one wrote: "Brilliant picture," as another laughed: "The look on Todd’s face."
Someone else wrote: "Hi Lurch! Looking very exciting this!," as a fourth added: "This going to be classic just what corrie needs some fun."
Another fan chimed: "Wonderful picture... I see you added someone.@PatLovesTheatre added: "Blimey poor Todd looks a bit left behind in the height stakes. Like the way he looks up to George adoringly, or is it."
