Coronation Street and Emmerdale are set to face even more schedule changes now it's the final week of September as ITV's stalwart soaps are set to clash with the channel's coverage of the Rugby World Cup. Starting from yesterday, Monday 25 September, fans of the cobbles and the Dales now need to amend when they get settled in front of the TV. Coronation Street's normal schedule sees the soap airing on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, but this week the soap is airing Tuesday (today) in a one-off hour-long episode.
This is to compensate for the soap being taken off-air on Friday 29 September, as it would clash with the match between New Zealand and Italy at 7.30pm. Emmerdale, which now airs at 7.30pm on weekdays, will be airing slightly earlier at 7pm on Friday. On Monday 2 October, scheduling will be back to normal, with Corrie and Emmerdale in its usual time-slots once more.
The Rugby World Cup has already caused some shake-ups for the beloved soaps, as the France and New Zealand game on Friday 8 September meant that the dynamic duo were forced to fit around it. And while the tournament could cause yet more movement in the schedules, fans can't yet plan around it as TV line-ups are only released a week in advance. The Rugby World Cup final is set to air on Saturday 28 October.
