Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver will be treading the boards and not the cobbles next year as she's bagged a new role away from the ITV soap. The actress is famed for playing Eileen Grimshaw in the long-running show.
The character made her debut in the role in May 2000, with her first scenes alongside Emmerdale star Chris Bisson, who played Vikram Desai. However, it wasn’t her first role in the ITV soap as five years before she had played a hospital nurse who was present when Daniel Osbourne was born.
But away from the cobbles, fans have recently seen Sue taking part in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here and appear on Loose Women as a guest panellist. However, her next role will take her completely away from the small screen.

The soap star will perform next year in the Olivier Award-nominated production of Sister Act The Musical. Sue will swap the Rovers for rosary beads as Mother Superior in the UK and Ireland tour, which will be heading to the Manchester Palace Theatre from March 18 to March 20, 2024.
Speaking about her new role, Sue said: "I’m thrilled to be stepping into the habit and joining the incredible company of Sister Act on tour. It’s been over 30 years since I’ve been on stage, but theatre has always been my first love. A chance to take on a role like this feels like heaven."
And in a video posted to social media, Sue could also be seen announcing the news before taking part in a photoshoot in which she was seen as Mother Superior for the first time. And her on-screen son Ryan Thomas, who played Corrie's Jason Grimshaw,
