A woman was tragically found dead after police and emergency services responded to reports of a concern for her welfare, it was revealed today.
Homes were evacuated on Huxley Street in the Halliwell area of Bolton on Saturday evening after reports of a possible gas leak.
But in an update today, Greater Manchester Police said the reports 'proved to be incorrect' and there was no leak.

Neighbours who were evacuated were allowed back into their homes after checks of the area were made, it's understood.
But the force said sadly, a 28-year-old woman was found dead at the scene inside a property on the street. The death isn't being treated as suspicious.
Locals said police, paramedics, fire crews and workers from the gas network owner Cadent flooded the street.
Greater Manchester Police went on to confirm some neighbouring properties were evacuated due to concerns over a possible gas leak.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said fire crews attended but left shortly afterwards as there was nothing for them to deal with.
One resident living on the street said: "A rapid response paramedic followed by an ambulance and a couple of police cars arrived on the street. There hadn't been any signs of fire or any commotion.
"Paramedics were going in and out of the house with police officers. Suddenly three fire engines arrived, firefighters were going in and out the house, some carrying short ladders. The street was taped off for a while, before the fire service left.
"Workers from Cadent gas have attended."
