Wolves head coach Gary O'Neil has said that his players are ready for Monday night's Premier League opener against Manchester United at Old Trafford - but has admitted that he wants them to become even fitter.
O'Neil was appointed Wolves boss on Wednesday, being parachuted in to pick up the baton from Julen Lopetegui. The Spaniard departed Molineux after a 'difference of opinion on certain situations', one of which was understood to relate to recruitment.
New signings have been in short supply in the Black Country this summer and Lopetegui is believed to have expressed plenty of frustration at missing out on Bristol City youngster Alex Scott, who recently sealed a move to Premier League counterparts Bournemouth. He had been a leading target for the Spaniard.
Even though Wolves need more bodies before the deadline on September 1, O'Neil, who was harshly sacked by Bournemouth in June, has highlighted the importance of increasing his players' fitness levels. Nevertheless, he has insisted that they are prepared to take on United in their season opener.

"They've probably had quite a tough pre-season, duration-wise," O'Neil told reporters. "We've done a hard couple of days and they seemed to find it quite tough.
"They worked hard but it seemed like they could feel it a bit, which is to be expected. It's a new stimulus, different things that we do. But I think they're in a good place.
"If you watch the games they've played in pre-season, they look fit, ready to go. Can we get them fitter? Probably. We'll speak to
