Who is Les Dennis on BBC Strictly Come Dancing 2023?

Our screens will be lit up once again every Saturday night as Strictly Come Dancing returns for a new season. The popular BBC One dance contest is back with its launch show on Saturday, September 16.
And one of the many famous faces taking part this year is TV presenter and comedian Les Dennis. The Liverpool-born presenter, 69, made his debut radio broadcast all the way back in 1971 when he appeared on BBC Radio Merseyside's series Variety Time.
After appearing on a variety of shows that further spread his fame, including ITV's New Faces, and The Russ Abbot Show, he earned one of his most significant roles as a host on Family Fortunes. He spent a total of 15 years in this role before leaving in 2002.

Some of his other iconic appearances include Celebrity Big Brother, Extras, Celebrity MasterChef, and Coronation Street where he quickly earned the admiration of fans throughout his two-year stint.
Talking about when he heard about being accepted into Strictly, he said: "I was in the mix for Strictly, and then I heard from my agent I’d got it, and I called my wife and she cried – but in a good way. She didn’t cry going, ‘Don’t do it!’ He is ticking off new experiences as he reaches the end of his sixties."
The entertainer had revealed that performing in Strictly would create some health challenges. He confessed he struggled to get out of bed the morning after his first training sessions due a knee replacement but can still "do all the dances".
His biggest concern is the Charleston. He said: "The Charleston will be a challenge, but we’ll see. I mean, my cardiologist basically said ‘I can’t give you a hundred per cent guarantee
