Strictly Come Dancing is back on our screens this weekend as 15 new celebrities take to the dancefloor in the hope of winning the coveted Glitterball Trophy. Hosted by Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, this year marks the 21st series of the BBC dance contest.
Fans will be tuning in to watch the show every weekend from now until December. Stars from the worlds of TV, sport, radio and more will don sequins and spray tans as they battle it out to win viewers’ votes and the judges’ approval.
Among the celebrities taking part in this year’s series is Paralympian Jody Cundy. The 44-year-old has represented Great Britain at seven Summer Paralympics and won eight gold, one silver, and three bronze medals in swimming and cycling events.

Jody has competed in multiple World Championships and has won 23 world titles, the most recent at the World Championships in Glasgow in August 2023. He currently holds the world record in the flying 200m and the 1km time trial and also holds 14 consecutive world titles in the MC4 kilo time trial. In 2022 Jody received a CBE for services to cycling in the New Year Honours list.
Speaking about being on the show, Jody told PA: “It’s a way of promoting disability in sport, and getting myself out there in the public eye so hopefully when it comes to the (Paralympic) Games … they know what the Paralympics is, what it consists of, how it works.
“So I get to inspire people. … A lot of (people with) disabilities don’t realise that they can do certain things, even able-bodied people, just like: ‘I’m sat on the sofa and he’s doing it with one leg, maybe I can get out there and I can go do it!’”
