Strictly Come Dancing's Annabel Croft's tragic loss of husband who died after short health battle

Tennis champion Annabel Croft is gracing our screens as she takes part in this year's Strictly Come Dancing.
She is joined by entertainer Les Dennis, actor Bobby Brazier and Coronation Street star Ellie Leach among the Strictly contestants. But, away from the glitz of the Strictly ballroom, the 57-year-old sports star has been grieving a huge loss.
Annabel's husband, Mel Coleman, died in May at the age of 60 years old. The pair were married for 30 years, tying the knot in 1993 and welcoming three children: two daughters, Amber Rose and Lily, and a son, Charlie.

Mel was an America's Cup and Admiral's Cup yachtsman. Tragically, he died just two months after being diagnosed with stage three cancer. He had previously complained of stomach pain for eight weeks before the shocking diagnosis.
Annabel, now a sports pundit, shared the devastating news of her husband's death at the beginning of the summer. She said in a statement that was released in early June: "My beloved husband Mel passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning after a short battle with cancer. My family and I are completely heartbroken and ask for privacy at this very sad time."
She's since said that joining Strictly Come Dancing has been a 'welcome distraction' from her grief. Heartbreakingly, Mel was a Strictly super fan and Annabel said she hopes he will be 'watching' when she's performing her best moves in front of the judges.
