When it comes to comfort food, or that end of night snack, a sizzling kebab served in a warm pitta or puffed up naan can be just the ticket. Unsurprisingly, for a city with a great reputation for food and drink, we're fantastically well served when it comes to places where you can grab one.
Now, three Greater Manchester eateries known for their kebabs have earned a spot on the shortlist for the British Kebab Awards. Sponsored by Just Eat, this year marks the 12th anniversary of the awards, which celebrate all things kebab, with categories ranging from 'Best Kebab House' in the country to the 'Best Newcomer'.
The shortlist, assembled by a panel of culinary experts, showcases the exemplary contributions of establishments which are said to "epitomise the pinnacle of the kebab industry". Organisers say that venues nominated this year use time-honoured traditional recipes to cutting-edge innovative fusions and are at the top of their game.

Amongst this year's nominees is Istanblue in Royton, Oldham, which has been nominated in the best fine dining restaurant category. And it not the first time the establishment, which has won rave reviews for its £21 kebabs, has won an award.
At the tenth annual British Kebab Awards in 2022, Istanblue on Rochdale Road pipped 10 other restaurants to take the 'fine dining' crown and became Greater Manchester's sole winner of the evening.
