‘The Big Door Prize’ Renewed For Season 2 At Apple

Naman Ramachandran “Rana Naidu,” the Indian adaptation of “Ray Donovan,” has been renewed for a second season by Netflix. The news emerged the same day that Netflix announced a 1.75 million jump in subscriptions worldwide. The action thriller that stars Venkatesh Daggubati and Rana Daggubati trended on the No.1 spot as the most watched series in India for three consecutive weeks after launch last month and continues to be in the top 10 series in India for the fifth week in a row. It trended in Netflix’s global top 10 for non-English TV for two weeks after it launched on March 10.

ABC has renewed drama series Will Trent, starring Ramón Rodríguez, for a second season. This marks the first ABC freshman show to get a renewal decision this season; it comes ahead of Will Trent‘s Season 1 finale on May 2.

The series stars Rodríguez as Will Trent, Erika Christensen as Angie Polaski, Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell, Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood and Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner.

BreAnna Bell ABC’s “The Rookie” will be returning for a sixth season where it’s expected to hit its 100th episode milestone, the network announced on Monday. The procedural follows John Nolan (Nathan Fillion), the oldest rookie in the LAPD, who uses his life experience, determination and sense of humor to keep up with rookies 20 years his junior. Nearing the end of his training, Nolan now faces his biggest challenge as a police officer when he must come to terms with the choices he has made in pursuit of the truth. Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Melissa O’Neil, Eric Winter, and Jenna Dewan join Fillion among the cast. In the next episode, which airs April 18, Officer Tim Bradford’s (Winter) ex-wife, Isabel, returns and asks the team to help her save someone from her undercover past. Her return also creates additional pressure in Lucy (O’Neil) and Tim’s relationship as they assist her in the search. “The Rookie” Season 5 finale will arrive on Tuesday, May 2.

As expected, ABC has renewed The Rookie for its sixth season. 

BreAnna Bell Onyx Collective’s “Reasonable Doubt” has been renewed for Season 2 and will be bringing in Morris Chestnut (“The Best Man”) as a series regular, Variety has confirmed. Chestnut will play charming, media-savvy defense attorney Corey Cash, whose client roster is typically full of underdogs. After bringing Corey in to help on a high-profile case, Jax learns he could threaten her standing at the firm. The series follows Los Angeles-based criminal defense attorney, Jax Stewart (Emayatzy Corinealdi) as she faces untapped trauma from her past, her struggling marriage, motherhood, and how she manages to juggle it all while maintaining her polished career. In addition to Corinealdi, Angela Grovey, Tim Jo, McKinley Freeman, Aderinsola Olabode and Thaddeus J. Mixson also star.

The action thriller series debuted on the streaming service less than a week ago, on March 23. It proved to be popular immediately, rocketing up to the top of Netflix’s weekly Top 10 chart with 168.71 million hours viewed. The second season will consist of 10 episodes. “The last week has been a whirlwind as we’ve finally been able to share ‘The Night Agent’ with the world,” said series creator Shawn Ryan. “To see the tremendous reaction to the show has been a great joy and is a credit to our cast, our writers, our directors, our crew and our partners at Sony Pictures Television and Netflix. We couldn’t be any prouder or more excited to get cracking on Season 2 to share the further adventures of Night Action with our newfound fans.”

This marks one of the fastest renewal decisions for Netflix, which typically waits for date on a series’ 28-day performance before pulling the trigger.

CBS has renewed Blue Bloods for the 2023-2024 season, which will be the cop drama stalwart’s 14th on the network. The cast of the series, including core original stars Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan and Will Estes, are set to return, along with its top producing team, led by showrunner Kevin Wade.
