Manchester City have been told to expect significant punishment if they are found guilty of the Financial Fair Play charges levelled against them - including possibly being forcibly relegated from the Premier League.
Fellow Premier League club Everton were deducted 10 points by the league last week after being found guilty of breaching financial rules. It was a record sanction imposed on a Premier League club.
City themselves have been subject to investigation by both the Premier League and UEFA in recent years, with the Etihad outfit having been charged earlier this year with an alleged 115 breaches of FFP rules. The charges cover a nine-year period between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons.
Following a four-year investigation into the club, which had been delayed by legal challenges, the league announced that the alleged breaches had been referred to a commission, with City facing a range of possible punishments if found guilty.

And following Everton’s shock outcome, more than 8,000 football supporters across the MEN and its sister titles, had their say, with 67 per cent believing City will eventually be punished for FFP-related charges.
Fans were then asked what the punishment should be for the club should this happen, with 41 per cent saying that they should also receive a points deduction. However, 36 per cent think that they should be forcibly relegated from the Premier League, with 23 per cent believing that the club should be stripped of its titles.
