Despite the fresh investment, though, United must still be mindful of complying with financial rules. While there is no clear route for Rartcliffe to complete a full takeover as things stand, former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has called for a change to existing Premier League rules that could, theoretically, work to United’s advantage in the future.
"The real reason it was brought in (FFP) was to stop the unsustainability in football and the need to be reliant upon individuals and the ultimate outcomes that we have seen in football happen so many times," Jordan said on talkSPORT.
