Erling Haaland has taken to social media to show his support for Jadon Sancho, who is tipped to leave Manchester United this month. The duo played together at Borussia Dortmund for 18 months before Sancho departed for United in 2021 amid a £73m deal.
The winger has not played since August after falling out with boss Erik ten Hag. The 23-year-old accused his manager of lying about the reasons he was dropped from the squad to face Arsenal on September 3 and has refused to apologise despite taking down his social media statement.
Ten Hag stands by his press conference comments regarding Sancho’s underwhelming training levels but has indicated that the player’s future at the club depends on him and whether an apology is forthcoming.

The situation has remained in a deadlock and now reports suggest Sancho is nearing a return loan to Dortmund. Manchester City star Haaland reposted a social media photo of him and Sancho with the DFB Pokal trophy when both won the competition with Dortmund in 2021.
The striker captioned the Instagram story: “Proper baller that,” with a love-heart eyes emoji. Haaland himself has not played since the 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa on December 6 due to a foot injury, although is expected back within the next few weeks.
Meanwhile, former teammate Sancho looks set to leave the Premier League on a loan deal ahead of a possible permanent summer exit. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, set to take over sporting matters at United, is due to hold influence over the player's future once his 25 per cent investment bid passes regulatory tests.
