Emmerdale spoilers have revealed yet more heartache for the Dingle family as the aftermath of Lydia Dingle’s rape continues. Last week viewers watched some heartbreaking scenes as Lydia returned home to tell her husband, Sam, Mandy Dingle and Belle Dingle that she was raped by her childhood friend Craig Reed. Lydia had been keeping it from Sam, but after Mandy accused her of having an affair, Lydia finally broke down to her boss, Kim Tate, and told her what had happened.
However, she then ran away to stay at the B&B after Kim encouraged her to tell her family, but after a heartfelt voicemail from Sam, Lydia plucked up the strength to return and tell all. She has also now told the police about what happened, but as she got rid of the evidence, it is going to be harder for her to get justice. During the episode which airs on Monday, 16 October, Lydia struggles, and as a result she rejects Sam’s offer of spending the day together.
Instead she insists on cleaning the house, leaving Sam feeling lost and helpless and unsure about how to deal with things. Sam is also scared to touch his traumatised wife as he tries to get his head around what has happened. But as the day progresses, the police turn up, and tell them that Craig has been released pending further investigation.
The update leaves Lydia disappointed and Sam angry.
How will the pair cope? Later in the episode, Sam is a shadow of himself as he sits alone when Rhona Goskirk passes, and desperate to talk, Sam invites her in. Back at home, Lydia is looking through the crisis leaflets that she has been given, but it is clear that she is finding it hard to come to terms with it. Soon after, a nervous Sam arrives with Rhona, who is concerned for the pair, and it isn’t long
