Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed the Spanish giants have no plans to sign a centre-back in this month's transfer window amid ongoing reports linking them with re-signing Raphael Varane.
The Manchester United centre-back, who joined the club from Madrid in August 2021, has been heavily linked with an exit from Old Trafford in recent weeks. He has been linked with moves to the likes of Madrid, Bayern Munich and clubs in Saudi Arabia.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News earlier this week, Varane feels as though he is being pushed out by United after they decided against extending his contract by a further year. The Frenchman is currently free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs overseas.

Though speculation linking him with a return to the Spanish capital has been mounting, Ancelotti, who worked with the Frenchman between 2013 and 2015 in a previous spell in charge of Madrid, has dismissed the possibility of him returning to the Bernabeu.
"At this moment, we aren't considering signing another centre-back," said Ancelotti, as quoted by the Metro. "We're lacking important players, but we have another two who we believe in, Nacho [Fernandez] and [Antonio] Rudiger, and two others who can play there, [Aurelien] Tchouameni and [Dani] Carvajal. So right now we aren't considering a signing."
Ancelotti, hammering home the club's stance, continued: 'I'll repeat myself: yes, we won't sign."
