Piers Morgan has spoken out to defend his position after he named the two members of the Royal Family who have been dragged into the ongoing race row involving the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The journalist said he decided to name Kate Middleton and King Charles to “remove the simmering threat” from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on The Firm.

Piers, 58, had revealed the names the previous night on his show, and said at the time that he didn’t believed that "any racist comments were ever made by any of the Royal Family".

Scobie appeared on ITV’s This Morning on Thursday in his first live UK TV interview since the book was released earlier this week and he denied including the identities of the two senior royals in his manuscript. He also said an investigation had been launched by the Dutch publishers who had translated the book.
Speaking to Craig Doyle and Alison Hammond he said: "I never submitted a book that had those names in it."
