Phillip Schofield has made a dramatic move ahead of Holly Willoughby attending her first National Television Awards without him. This Morning will seek to defend its best daytime show title at the annual bash as the programme continues to face backlash amid the furore surrounding Schofield's exit.
The ITV daytime programme, which has been on a winning streak in the daytime category for the last number of years, will go up against The Chase, Loose Women and The Repair Shop as the annual award ceremony returns to The O2 in London on Tuesday evening (September 5).
Schofield, 61, and Holly, 42, had also been longlisted for the best TV presenter prize, alongside fellow This Morning hosts Alison Hammond, Dermot O’Leary, Rylan Clark and Martin Lewis, but only Alison and Martin made the cut, going up against Ant and Dec, Bradley Walsh and Claudia Winkleman.

The NTAs come after Schofield’s resignation from ITV in May after he admitted to an “unwise but not illegal” relationship with a younger male colleague on the show. But since then, This Morning has also faced claims of toxicity and bullying behind the scenes.
Now, ahead of the awards ceremony, Schofield appeared to show that his fractured friendship with his former co-star and friend of 14 years is seemingly not on the track to being repaired as a quick search on social media showed that he no longer follows Holly on Instagram, the Mirror reports.
However, he does still follow former colleagues including Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, as well as the account for This Morning itself. Holly, meanwhile, does still follow Schofield on Instagram, as well as his daughters, Ruby and
