Elated fans hailed Sarah Lancashire as the 'best actress ever' as 'epic' Happy Valley won big at ITV's National Television Awards on Tuesday night (September 5).
It comes after the BBC programme took home the title for Best Recurring Drama, beating the likes of Call the Midwife, Vera and Stranger Things.
And as the cast took to the stage, star Sarah Lancashire looked overwhelmed and emotional as she appeared alongside her colleagues to collect their award. The actress, 58, also took home the Special Recognition and Best Drama Performance award at the annual live event.

The BBC drama was a huge hit with fans when the final series dropped. Starring James Norton as Tommy Lee Royce and Sarah Lancashire as Catherine Cawood, the show even broke records and its huge finale had 7.5 million viewers gripped.
Both were up for Best Drama performance, with fans rushing to social media to share their excitement at the win to offer their congratulations.
