Phil Foden believes Mateo Kovacic's aggressive play and ability to wriggle out of tight situations will see him thrive at Manchester City.
Kovacic joined from Chelsea in a £25million deal last month, with the Croatia international brought in to replace Ilkay Gundogan. The former City captain left the Etihad upon the expiration of his contract, opting against an extension and signing for Barcelona instead.
Kovacic started in the win over Yokohama F. Marinos last week and did so again on Wednesday as goals from James McAtee and Aymeric Laporte handed City a second win of the summer. Kovacic got plenty of the ball and looked comfortable adjusting to his new team.
Foden is yet to play with Kovacic, having come on at half-time in both friendlies so far, but the England international can't wait to play alongside his new teammate.

“Mateo has come straight into the team and he has fitted in really well and looks at home," Foden told City's in-house media team. "He’s a person that can bring a lot of quality to the team.
“He is aggressive in the challenge and good at getting out of pressure in tight situations. I feel like him coming into the team can help us a lot and I’m really excited to play with him.”
City face Atletico Madrid on Sunday and manager Pep Guardiola will likely start to afford some of his key players more minutes on the pitch having made wholesale changes at half-time in both games so far. It could hand Foden and Kovacic the chance to link up together for the first time, with their potential relationship on the left a point of interest for the upcoming season.
