Paul Scholes reckons former team Manchester United will "find themselves in big trouble" if they play as badly as they did against Bournemouth in their impending showdown with Bayern Munich.
It has been a challenging season for Erik ten Hag and his players and they were humbled by the Cherries in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon. Bundesliga champions Bayern are now ready to head to the same iconic venue tonight (8pm).
United have a mountain to climb if they are to progress to the knockout stages in Europe this season. Even if they defeat the German heavyweights, they are reliant on a draw in the other Group A match between FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray to maintain their place in the Champions League.

Speaking before the match, Scholes told TNT Sports: "The damage is done. They've been in good positions. To lose against Galatasaray at home was a disgrace really.
"They've probably got what they deserved. I don't know what Bayern Munich's attitude is going to be like and they also had a surprise defeat at the weekend [5-1 against Eintracht Frankfurt].
"But I always think big clubs want to come to Old Trafford and win. It's the prestige of going to Manchester United and winning. If United play like they did against Bournemouth, they could be in big trouble."
Scholes continued: "Manchester United shouldn't be associated with the Europa League, but there will be some big clubs in it in the New Year. If United go into it, there's Liverpool and similar teams.
