Sir Jim Ratcliffe has reached out to Manchester United fans after stepping on board at Old Trafford.
Investment from the INEOS founder was confirmed on Christmas Eve. The deal worth around £1.25billion, for a 25 per cent share in the Premier League giants, is subject to ratification from the division's governing body.
During his first statement, the 71-year-old outlined his lofty ambitions for United moving forward as INEOS Group aim to restore the club to former glories. However, while doubling down on that stance in an open letter which was sent to Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST), the British billionaire also called for togetherness and an understanding of what the project might entail over an indefinite timeframe.

Ratcliffe wrote: "I wanted to write to you at this time given the critical role of the fans to the future of Manchester United as we recognise our responsibility as custodians of the club on your behalf. I believe we can bring sporting success on the pitch to complement the undoubted commercial success the club has enjoyed."
Sir Jim, who will head up footballing operations at Old Trafford and is expected to make further appointments behind the scenes, added: "It will require time and patience alongside rigour and the highest level of professional management. You are ambitious for Manchester United and so are we.
"There are no guarantees in sport and change can inevitably take time, but we are in it for the long-term and together we want to help take Manchester United back to where the club belongs, at the very top of English, European and world football."
