A range of new products have helped Bolton-headquartered bakery giant Warburtons rack up the highest sales in its history.
The company, which is led by the fifth generation of the Warburton family, has reported a turnover of £605.7m for its latest financial year. Despite the record sales, Warburtons' profits were slashed by over £10m because of the war in Ukraine and the national shortage of drivers.
The new financial figures have been revealed after the Manchester Evening News reported in January this year that all Warburtons products had been removed by Waitrose from its shelves in a row over performance.

The supermarket, which is part of the John Lewis Partnership, was reported to have said the crumpet maker's "performance didn’t meet expectations". However, Warburtons said that "quality is paramount" and that it has put "an awful lot of care" into the products its bakes.
According to newly-filed accounts with Companies House, Warburtons has posted pre-tax profits of £5.1m for the 12 months to September 24, 2022, down from £15.2m in the prior year. The business has also reported a turnover of £605.7m, up from £567.9m.
The firm said the rise in its turnover was due to "strategic customer partnerships and new product introductions". It added that the fall in profits was because of "commodity inflation and elevated costs linked to the driver shortage".
The Warburtons family received a dividend of £14.7m in the prior year but the company has not recommended a pay out for its latest financial period. During the year the average number of people employed by the company increased from 4,809 to 4,985.
