Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White says Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney inspired him to pursue a career in football.
The playmaker admitted to being a Manchester United fan growing up and hailed both club icons for their qualities on the ball. Rooney scored 253 goals in 559 games for United while Scholes amassed an astonishing 716 appearances for the club, netting 155 times and creating 81 assists.
Both won a cabinet-load of trophies together including the 2008 Champions League, five Premier League titles and a Club World Cup. Gibbs-White waxed lyrical about both players, explaining what he liked most about both players.

Speaking to Premier League Uncut, he said: “Growing up as a kid I supported United. Rooney was always my favourite player, he was the real key player in that squad. So calm and composed. Picking up pockets, running in behind, scoring goals.
“Another player is Paul Scholes. He used to pick the ball up and just zing it everywhere. He was just so calm and composed on the ball, so that’s where my love for football came.”
Both Scholes and Rooney have stayed within the football realm after retirement. Rooney is said to be on the brink of being named Birmingham City manager after leaving DC United this week.
He previously took the helm at Derby County before going Stateside, having formerly played for the club towards the end of his playing career. The Blues, part-owned by NFL legend Tom Brady, sacked John Eustace on Monday. Meanwhile, Scholes is a regular pundit on TNT Sports covering United on European nights.
