Mexican restaurant to open its doors opposite Stockport's historic market

A year after a much-loved Stockport restaurant closed its doors, owners have confirmed it will be re-open as a Mexican Taqueria.
La Capilla, which already has a site in Heaton Chapel will open in the former Blackshaws, opposite the town's historic marketplace. The building, has been restored to preserve its original charm and character and will open its doors to its first customers on Friday, September 15.
Blackshaws closed last September, but owner Steve Pilling promised it would reopen as a concept that would take Stockport’s food scene “to another level”. The restaurateur, who had over 30 years culinary experience running award-winning restaurants across Greater Manchester, is the owner of La Capilla and Stockport Produce Market Hall.

Speaking about the new restaurant concept, Alex Bond, Operations said: "We are delighted to expand our culinary venture and share the warmth of Mexico with the community of Stockport. We cannot wait to welcome everyone to our new second home."
The new La Capilla Mexican restaurant will continue the tradition of offering a diverse menu that showcases the authentic flavours of Mexico. Visitors to the new branch can expect everything from mouth-watering tacos and burritos bursting with fresh ingredients to colourful frozen margaritas and weekly specials.
Speaking about the plans for the Blackshaws site last year, Mr Pilling told the Manchester Evening News: “It is closed for a makeover and will reopen as an evening restaurant, which will build on Stockport’s booming food scene with many of the fine-dining chefs from the Damson days of Heaton Moor and further afield.
