Manchester United Women's goalkeeper Mary Earps has been voted BBC Women's Footballer of the Year, admitting she is 'truly honoured' to become the first-ever goalkeeper to scoop the award.
Earps, whose popularity with the British public has soared since she helped England win the 2022 European Championship, won the Golden Glove at this year's Women's World Cup in Australia. Helping the Lionesses reach the final of the competition, she recorded three clean sheets.
Though Sarina Wiegman's side were beaten 1-0 by Spain in the final in Sydney, Earps saved a second half penalty, denying Jenni Hermoso. She also helped United achieve a second-placed finish in the Women's Super League (WSL) last season.

Becoming the very first goalkeeper to win the prestigious BBC award, Earps, told BBC Sport: "I am truly honoured. To be the first 'keeper to get their hands on the award is special and I am incredibly grateful."

Earps scooped the most votes, pipping Barcelona's Aitana Bonmati, who recently won the women's Ballon d'Or, and Chelsea ace Sam Kerr to the prize.
Fellow Barcelona star Fridolina Rolfo and Alexandra Popp of Wolfsburg were also contenders.
Earps continued: "To be honest, I thought Bonmati might take it. I mean, what a player.
"There has been a lot that has happened this year. Obviously, we've had the World Cup. We've had everything that's gone on with the goalkeeper shirts. I've had the whole goalkeeper union
