Erik ten Hag could send some of his Manchester United players into the Anfield cauldron with a "kick in the ass" on Sunday as he bids to avoid another humiliating afternoon on Merseyside.
United are having a nightmare campaign, having lost 12 of their 24 matches this season and they have endured some bruising encounters with Jurgen Klopp's side of late, losing their last two trips to Anfield 4-0 and 7-0.
Ten Hag insists he can use the carrot and the stick with his players when responding to a question about Marcus Rashford, whose form has fallen away this season.

Rashford is back fit after missing the midweek defeat to Bayern Munich through illness but he has a fight on his hands to regain his place in the side, having been dropped recently after a return of just two goals this season.
The 26-year-old scored 30 times last term and towards the end of the campaign Ten Hag challenged him to get to 40 this season, but his form has deserted him and Alejandro Garnacho has taken his place on the left, with Antony back in favour on the right.
Last month the United boss said Rashford would always be in his team despite his struggles, but he's now been dropped and while Ten Hag didn't answer specifically about Rashford, he believes every player needs a rocket occasionally and given United's recent struggles, some of his current squad must be in danger of that approach.
