Manchester United loanee Amad bade an emotional farewell to Sunderland supporters at the Stadium of Light after their final home match of the regular season.
Amad, 20, has spent the 2022/23 season on loan from United in the Championship, scoring 12 goals and assisting another four for teammates during 40 appearances for the club across all competitions. The winger was one of three individuals nominated for the league's young player of the year award, which went to Bristol City teenager Alex Scott.
With the Ivory Coast international's help, Sunderland still have an outside chance of finishing in the top six and sealing a place in the play-offs. The Black Cats sit two points behind sixth-placed Millwall going into the final day. Blackburn Rovers and West Bromwich Albion are all also in contention.

Qualifying for the four-team play-offs would guarantee the North East club another home match this season. As that remains far from certain, their supporters serenaded Amad after their 2-2 draw with Watford on Saturday afternoon.
Footage shared by the club and the player himself across social media shows Amad taking a lap of honour alongside teammates around the stadium as fans who stayed behind after the final whistle repeatedly sang the loanee's name. In response, Amad applauded them and raised his hands in appreciation towards the Roker End of the stadium.
After the match, he also shared the video on his Instagram story, alongside the word 'Merci', French for thank you. Amad is a native speaker after being born in Abidjan, the largest city in Côte d'Ivoire, a French-speaking country.
