To be a success at Manchester United you need several ingredients: talent, hunger, belief and luck.
Sir Alex Ferguson was the premium judge of young talent; nurturing the Class of 92' and beyond. United's rich history is built on their academy and the talent that has been the lifeblood of the first team.
From David Beckham to Paul Scholes to Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho in the present day, developing youth is non-negotiable at Old Trafford. There have, of course, been some that have slipped through the net, with Ravel Morrison regularly mentioned whenever a former United player is asked of the player they had high hopes for who never quite lived up to the hype.

He is perhaps the biggest warning to young players that nothing is a certainty. As the old adage goes: hard work beats talent if talent doesn't work hard.
Other players just don't progress as expected. Sometimes that can be down to injury, outside circumstances or changes of manager. Ferguson's record at spotting those who had the necessary qualities to make the grade was fantastic. Though, he didn't always get it right.
In 2001, the United manager earmarked the next wave of academy talent, naming seven players he expected to be the bedrock of his future teams for years to come. With some he hit the mark, others less so.
"Darren Fletcher, who we hope will get over his broken leg, is good," he said. "Michael Stewart and Luke Chadwick are doing very well, and John O'Shea's doing well too.
"There's a young left-back called Paul Tierney who's doing well, as is Danny Pugh. But there's a young boy who has started now, he's 16, called Kieran Richardson. He's going to be a fantastic player."
Instantly, two players
