A devastated Scots dog owner has spoken out after her beloved dog died while running away from fireworks.

A man who died in Angus after his van was hit by a tree during Storm Babet has been named locally as John Gillan.
Emergency crews raced to the incident on the B9127 near Forfar at 5.05pm on Thursday. Paramedics attended however the 56-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say his next-of-kin has been informed. The area has been hit with heavy rain and wind amid Storm Babet, with a red weather alert in place.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5.05pm on Thursday, 19 October, 2023, police received a report of a one-vehicle crash in which a tree struck a van on the B9127 at Whigstreet near Forfar. Emergency services attended, however, the 56-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Next of kin have been informed and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
