The midfield maestro, now 37, apparently sustained the problem in Real Sociedad training this week. Silva had only renewed his contract in May but is said to have outlined his willingness to give up his salary for the year.

Silva left City in 2019 after winning four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, five League Cups and three Community Shields. The Spain star is also a World Cup winner and two-time Euros champion.
