Former Love Islander Amber Davies has opened up about her decision to take part in Dancing on Ice, revealing her mum wasn't best pleased about the "danger involved" in the ITV show. Amber, 27, who won the ITV2 dating show with Kem Cetinay in 2017, is one of the celebrities competing on the 2024 series of Dancing on Ice, alongside the likes of Ricky Hatton, Adele Roberts and Miles Nazaire. While she's understandably excited to be taking part in the ITV show, Amber has revealed her family were less enthusiastic about her latest venture, due to the danger involved in performing on the ice.
"My mum nearly had a heart attack because obviously when you sign up to a skating show there is danger involved," the ex-Love Islander revealed. "And with me being on stage every day, I think there were just alarm bells in her head like, 'Oh my God, this could go terribly wrong.' However, Amber pushed aside her loved ones' fears. She continued: "But I just think if you have that narrative throughout life, you'll never do anything.
I want to do this. I know my body well enough to look after myself mentally and physically." She says her confidence is continuing to grow on the ice and she keeps her family up to date with her training via videos. Amber added: "I keep sending my family videos, they can actually see from afar that I'm getting more confident.
I think every day they're getting more and more confident with me being on the ice." Amber's mum might struggle to watch her daughter perform on Dancing on Ice, but one person who will be cheering her on is boyfriend Ben Joyce. “He’s my number one fan. He's amazing,” Amber said.
